A New Water Well In Yakarengo, Kenya Now Serves Over 500 People A Day. See location of water well .
Photo Of The Finished Well
Workers drilled down to the underground spring and built a reservior to contain the water. The reservior fills with water which is accessed by two water faucets on the side wall. The well serves over 500 people a day and allows two women to draw water at the same time while drastically reducing their wait time.
Life Global Outreach, Inc. had a bronze plaque installed on the side of the well giving glory to God. The plaque reads: John 4:13-14 "Jesus answered, 'Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life'. " JESUS IS THE LIVING WATER Deliverance Church Yakarengo
The Yakarengo Well Story The Original Water Source
This was the original site where women would come to draw water. This slow trickle of water took approximately one hour to fill a jug. This was the only fresh water source for families in this village. An underground spring runs close to the surface of the ground, so the villagers lodged pieces of material into the ground to gain access to the spring’s water.
Waiting Around For Water Women and children walk 1-3 miles to draw water. Planning A New Well (PIC) Tony meets with Bishop Simon Kaniaru and village leaders to plan construction of a brand new well. Local villagers were hired to construct the well; they actually carried bags of concrete mix on their backs to this remote area. Construction Begins For The New Well
